Volkswagen Tiguan Oil Consumption

Owners of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan, and potentially other model years, may be experiencing issues with the vehicle’s performance quality. Many consumers have reported issues on online forums and to their dealerships because the vehicle seemingly burns too quickly through motor oil. Consumers report needing to top off or replace their oil in only 1,000 miles versus the recommended 10,000-mile service check up. Drivers are sometimes alerted by a low-engine oil level light that indicates their oil is burning too quickly.

This issue can not only lead to risks on the road for consumers by putting drivers and passengers of the vehicle in danger of a vehicle malfunction or road-side break down, consumers may now have to take on an extra financial responsibility as well. These vehicles seemingly burn through oil at more than an expected rate for many consumers, and they often need to frequently visit their dealership or a mechanic to top off their oil level, or keep oil cannisters in their vehicle in case of emergencies. These out of pocket expenses can add up over time, especially with no remedy presented by Volkswagen.

On February 11, following Plaintiff’s motion, the New Jersey Judge issued an order that all cases pertaining to alleged oil consumption defect be consolidated.
