Shub Johns & Holbrook is investigating Tom’s of Maine toothpaste after some reports indicate that the Mild Berry flavor of the Toddler Natural Toothpaste and the Silly Strawberry flavor of the Kid’s Natural Toothpaste may contain unsafe levels of neurotoxins such as lead and mercury or arsenic. Tom’s of Maine either knew or should have known of this contamination in its children’s toothpaste productsbut still seemingly manufactured, advertised and sold these products to unassuming consumers.
Have you purchased Tom’s of Maine Kid’s or Toddler Natural Toothpaste, unaware of the potential risks it may cause due to the alleged neurotoxin contamination? Let us know! Fill out our form to join our investigation!
An independent study discovered that some popular toothpastes, such as two flavors of Tom’s of Maine toothpaste, contained unsafe levels of some neurotoxins from arsenic to lead to cadmium and mercury. While the testing was insufficient to detect significant enough levels of cadmium, it found that the Silly Strawberry flavor of the Kid’s Natural toothpaste potentially contained lead and arsenic, while the Mild Berry flavor of the Toddler’s Natural toothpaste potentially contained lead and mercury.
Any level of neurotoxins like lead and arsenic are unsafe for consumers, especially when the product is geared towards children!
Exposure to lead, arsenic, or mercury can lead to severe health risks for consumers. Lead can lead to an increased risk of mental illness, dementia, breast cancer, and reduced intelligence. Arsenic itself is toxic to humans and can impact the health of consumers.
The company should have known that their product was potentially contaminated by these neurotoxins, yet the company continued to manufacture, market, advertise, and sell these products to unknowing consumers. The company is potentially putting consumers who purchase the Tom’s of Maine Kid’s and Toddler Natural toothpaste at risk of these health defects.
