LexisNexis Data Breach

Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is currently investigating LexisNexis Risk Solutions (“LexisNexis”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around April 1, 2025. LexisNexis, a Georgia-based data broker and risk management solutions provider, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within LexisNexis’s systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place on or around December 25, 2024.

Though the data security breach was occurred in December 2024, the Company did not begin notifying consumers until May 27, 2025. LexisNexis has indicated that approximately 364,333 individuals have been impacted by the breach. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include:

full names
dates of birth
phone numbers
mailing addresses
email addresses
Social Security numbers
and driver’s license numbers

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
