The Poppy Troll Doll was sold exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com, and was pulled off the shelves by Hasbro due to public outcry over the Doll’s features. Specifically, the Poppy Troll Doll contains a button that is hidden and not revealed on the Doll’s packaging. The hidden button is located between the Poppy Troll Doll’s legs. When this button on the Doll’s crotch is pressed, the Doll makes other noises of a decidedly sexual nature, sounds such as “Whee!” or “Oh!”, and other sounds claimed to be moaning, gasping, and giggling. The behavior that the Poppy Troll Doll exudes is inappropriate for use by a child.
Concerned parents across the country have voiced their outrage over the release of the Poppy Troll Doll. Many people are concerned that Hasbro is promoting and/or facilitating child abuse due to the placement of the button on what is meant to be a toy aimed at young girls and fans of the Trolls movie. There are concerns that this may condition children to believe that pedophilia is acceptable, and even larger questions as to why Hasbro did not disclose this button or its disturbing noises on the Doll’s packaging.
