Shub & Johns Attorney appointed Interim Co-Lead Counsel in the Onix Group Data Breach Case
A Pennsylvania court recently appointed Shub & Johns LLC Partner, Benjamin F. Johns, as Interim co-Lead Counsel in a consolidated class action lawsuit against the Onix Group, LLC (“Onix”) after a data breach exposed consumers’ private health and identification information.

Data Breach at Onix Group, LLC
Around May 30, 2023, the Onix Group LLC, a Pennsylvania-based real estate company that provides management and consulting services to a variety of businesses, began notifying individuals that their information was involved in a data breach that exposed personal identification information and financial information.
The company learned of the security breach on March 27, 2023 and immediately conducted an investigation. Onix determined that between March 20, 2023 and March 27, 2023, an unauthorized party gained access to confidential consumer information through the company’s servers. Through further investigation, Onix discovered that approximately 319,500 individuals’ information was affected.
Information including consumers’ names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth, as well as scheduling, billing, and clinical information may have been affected.
Onix Group Lawsuit
On June 15, 2023, Shub & Johns LLC filed a class action lawsuit against the Onix Group, LLC for the potential impact that the data breach could have or has already had on affected individuals.
On July 17, 2023, the United States Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania held a hearing on a motion to consolidate matters regarding the data breach at Onix. The court also appointed Benjamin F. Johns, a seasoned litigator at Shub & Johns LLC, as Interim co-Lead Class Counsel in the Onix data breach Litigation.

The Court’s order noted that Mr John’s:
“has almost 20 years of experience with complex class action cases and has been appointed Lead Counsel in data breach cases over a dozen times in various jurisdictions across the country; he has been appointed Lead Counsel in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania no less than three times.”
