A settlement in a class action suit against Integon General Insurance Corporation (“Integon”) received final approval in the U.S. District Court for the Easterrn District of Pennsylvania. The Judge presiding over the 2021 class action case issues his judgement earlier this month after determining sufficient relief provided for the affected class.

Integon Denies Claims & Rescinds Policies, Case Alleges

Shub Johns & Holbrook Partner Jonathan Shub, alongside co-counsel, filed a 2023 class action lawsuit against Integon following reports by Integon-insured motorists alleging that the insurance company had unlawfully denied claims and rescinded active policies.

Plaintiff Greenwald, much like other similarly situated individuals, took issue with Integon following a denial of an Under-Insured motorist (UIM) claim after Integon applied a policy provision that reduces available benefits for UIM claims.

The class action suit alleged that Integon had unlawfully denied claims and rescinded policies by using “post-accident underwriting,” meaning the suit alleged the insurance company of reorganizing premiums and benefits after a claimant’s accident rather than following previously agreed upon terms.

Greenwald v. Integon Final Approval of Settlement

On July 8, 2025, the parties reached a proposed settlement agreement to address the claims brought by the Plaintiff on behalf of the proposed impacted class. The Court issued preliminary approval of the class-wide settlement later that month following a hearing to discuss the settlement.

On February 3, 2026, following a months-long settlement notice program to alert impacted consumers of the settlement and their rights pertaining to the case, Honorable Judge Joel H. Slomsky granted final approval of the court determining that the settlement process was fair and the benefits to be sufficient for the class. The The case is captioned Greenwald v.
