Porsche Taycan Vehicles at potential Risk of Short Circuiting Batteries

Shub & Johns LLC launches an investigation into Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (“Porsche”) after some consumer concerns rise regarding one of their vehicle’s safety. Owners and Lessees of the Porsche Taycan have taken to online forums after a recall notice identifies an issue with the vehicle that results in the vehicle’s battery system may short circuit.

Porsche Taycan Battery Issue

2020 – 2024 models of the Porsche Taycan were involved in a recall after the electric vehicles were reportedly experiencing or exhibiting signs of short circuiting within the Taycan’s high-voltage battery system. A short circuit within the battery system can lead to a fire, with potentially no warning or safety indicators provided for the driver or passengers.

It is unclear why newer models of the Porsche Taycan are experiencing increased fire risks or short circuiting issues, but the company advises consumers to not charge vehicles more than 80% as one step of the remedy. Electric vehicle owners and drivers rely on their vehicle to be sufficiently charged and ready to drive, but are being told that charging their vehicle past 80% may lead to additional battery short circuits and fire hazards.

Consumers lives may also be at risk in the Porsche Taycan because of the increased fire risk, especially when it lacks the proper safety indicators and warning signs. Drivers and lessees not only pay a premium price for an electric Porsche, but now also may be at an increased risk of battery failure without any warning.
