LoanCare Data Breach Potentially Impacts Clients

Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating LoanCare LLC for its apparent failure to prevent a significant data breach.

LoanCare is a loan servicing company that serves almost 1.5 million customers per year across the United States. On November 19, 2023, LoanCare learned that unauthorized individuals had gained access to its parent company’s information technology network. The exposed information reportedly includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers and loan numbers. LoanCare began notifying affected customers in late December 2023.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised customer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
