Laboratory Services Cooperative Data Breach Investigation

Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating Laboratory Services Cooperative (“LSC”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around October 27, 2024. LSC, a Washington-state-based laboratory testing service and non-profit organization supporting clinics like Planned Parenthood, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within its systems.

Though the data security breach was discovered in October 2024, the Company did not begin notifying impacted individuals until mid April 2025. Laboratory Services Cooperative has indicated that approximately 1.6 million individuals have been impacted by the breach. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include:

Names
Addresses
Phone Numbers
Email Addresses
Medical/clinical information
Billing, claims, and payment data
Health insurance information
Social Security Numbers
Driver’s License Numbers
Passport Numbers
Dates of Birth
Demographic Data
Student ID Numbers

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
