Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is currently investigating Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh (“JFGP”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around August 20, 2025. JFGP, a non-profit organization and communal agency located in the Jewish community of Western Pennsylvania, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within JFGP’s systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place between November 5, 2024 through November 12, 2024.

Though the data security breach was discovered in November 2024, the company did not begin notifying consumers until September 18, 2025. JFGP has not indicated approximately how many individuals have been impacted by the breach. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include names and potentially other private identifiable information such as financial information, health insurance information, and/or medical treatment information.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
