Chuze Fitness Data Breach Investigation
Shub & Johns is investigating Chuze Fitness for their apparent failure to defend against a data breach that occurred on November 27, 2023.
Chuze Fitness operates 38 gym locations across California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. On November 27, cybercriminals hacked into Chuze Fitness’ technology systems and accessed the data of a significant number of current and former Chuze Fitness employees.
When applying or onboarding at a new job, workers provide their employers with a variety of highly sensitive information. Access to this information is highly beneficial for employers. For example, employers can use this information to run thorough background checks. In turn, employers have a responsibility to protect this information and prevent it from getting into the wrong hands.
It appears that Chuze Fitness may have failed to live up to this responsibility, exposing many of their current and former employees to the risk of identity theft.
