Hotel and Casino Giant, Caesars, experienced Data Breach

a casino set of slot machines.Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating Caesars Entertainment, Inc., (Caesars) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around September 7, 2023. Caesars, a Nevada-based hotel and casino giant, notified the SEC on September 14, 2023 that the company experienced a cyberattack that exposed customer data located on Caesars’ systems.

Caesars has not indicated the approximate number of individuals  impacted by the breach. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include data located within Caesars’ loyalty program database, such as driver’s license numbers and/or social security. At this moment, Caesars claims to have no evidence that members’ passwords, bank account information, or payment card information were acquired by the unauthorized party.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
