Allegedly Harmful Chemicals from Explosion in Georgia BioLab potentially impacts Residents

On September 29, 2024, a chemical fire occurred at a BioLab facility located in Conyers, Georgia in the county of Rockdale. The fire was caused by a water leak that mixed with chemicals at the facility, resulting in an explosion that released these chemical fumes out into the public and spread across the area.

Residents and local shop owners were assured that, despite the large cloud of potentially harmful toxins, the surrounding areas would be safe. Even still, these residents were urged to evacuate from the area or to find shelter in an enclosed space with windows and doors shut. This can leave many consumers scared about what they might experience if they do not evacuate – will this cause lasting health defects?

Local businesses are also likely to close down their businesses leaving many without revenue or a proper place to work, while residents who elected to evacuate may not have a reliable location to reside while an investigation is conducted to identify the risks caused by the chemical exposure.

BioLab’s negligence has seemingly left the Conyers, Georgia community at risk of health issues and lost wages, and may have displaced many of the Conyers constituents as well.
