Healthcare Services Group, Inc. Data Breach – Benjamin F. Johns appointed Interim Co-Lead Counsel

A Pennsylvania court recently appointed Shub Johns & Holbrook Partner Benjamin F. Johns as interim co-lead class counsel in a data breach class action lawsuit against Healthcare Services Group, Inc (“HSG”).

The HSG data breach has allegedly impacted personal identifiable information that was stored in its data systems, potentially putting individuals at risk of fraud and suspicious activity. Full names, social security, and other sensitive information may have been included in the breach.

Healthcare Services Group Data Breach

On or around October 7, 2024, Healthcare Services Group or HGI, Pennsylvania-based healthcare group, discovered that its private consumer data had been impacted through a cybersecurity incident.

According to the notice letter, the unauthorized party had access to HSG’s consumer information between September 27 and October 3, 2024. HSG did not begin notifying consumers until August 2025. HSG learned that the data breach impacted the private information of about 624,000 individuals.

The sensitive information reportedly exposed in the breach includes the following

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • State identification number
  • Financial account information
  • Account access credentials

Lead Attorneys in Healthcare Services Group Case

On August 27, 2025, Shub Johns & Holbrook filed a class action lawsuit against HSG for the potential impact that the data breach could have or has already had on affected individuals.

On November 25, 2025, the Court granted Plaintiffs’ motion to appoint interim co-lead counsel following its earlier motion to consolidate related actions against HSG concerning the October 2024 data breach.

In its order, the United States Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania appointed Benjamin F. Johns, a Partner with SJ&H, as Interim Co-Lead Counsel for Plaintiffs in the action, alongside co-counsel.
