A Pennsylvania Federal Court recently granted final approval of a $3 million class action settlement in a proposed class action lawsuit against Healthcare Services Group, Inc. (“HSG”). The Court’s approval of the settlement follows a months-long notice campaign to alert impacted consumers of their legal claims.
The case is captioned Williamson et al., v. Healthcare Services Group, Inc., Case No. 2:25-cv-04908-JDW (E.D. Pa.). Class members have until October 1 to submit a claim for settlement relief. Class members who have submitted valid claims may be able to anticipate payment later this year.

Data Breach at Healthcare Services Group
In October 2024, Healthcare Services Group, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based provider of housekeeping, dining, and nutrition service, discovered that, between September 27, 2024 and October 3, 2024, the organization’s internal data and information systems had been accessed by an unaffiliated bad actor.
Approximately 624,500 individuals’ private information had been impacted and potentially compromised as a result of the Healthcare Services Group data breach.
Settlement Final Approval in the HSG Data Breach Case
In August of 2025, following notice of the breach, Shub Johns & Holbrook LLPfiled a class action lawsuit against HSG on behalf of affected individuals. An amended complaint was filed in October 2025 following the consolidation of all related cases and the appointment of Benjamin F. Johns as interim co-lead counsel in the class action case.
Following a formal mediation, the parties reached a settlement, and Plaintiffs filed a motion for preliminary approval of the settlement which was approved by the Court on June 3, 2026. The Parties engaged in a months-long settlement notice campaign to alert class members of the settlement. Impacted Consumers are eligible to submit claims for the settlement through October 1, 2026.
On behalf of the Plaintiffs, managing partner at Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP and co-lead class Counsel Benjamin F. Johns attended the Court’s Final Approval hearing held on September 24, 2026. The Court issued an order the following day granting Plaintiffs’ motion for Final Approval of the HSG class-wide settlement.
Impacted individuals must wait for the claims calculation process to be completed but can approximately expect class benefits to be administered in early 2027.
