Chord Dental Data Breach- Benjamin Johns appointed Interim Co-Lead Counsel in Consolidated Class Action

A Pennsylvania court recently appointed Shub Johns & Holbrook Partner, Benjamin F. Johns – along with Co-Counsel – as Interim Co-Lead Counsel in a consolidated class action lawsuit against CDHA Management, or Chord Dental, after a data breach allegedly exposed individuals’ personal identification and private health information.

The case is captioned Figueroa v. CDHA Management, LLC, et al., No. 5:25-cv-02453-WB (E.D. Pa.). This case was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Continue reading to learn more.

Data Breach at Chord Dental

On or around March 14, 2025,  CDHA Management, LLC and Spark DSO, LLC, which do business as Chord Specialty Dental Partners (“Chord Dental”) began notifying consumers that its data systems had experienced a cybersecurity incident. Chord Dental, a Tennessee-based dental organization, discovered that an unauthorized actor had gained access to patient information.

It was discovered that the unauthorized third party had gained access to several employee email accounts from August 19, 2024 through September 25, 2024. And  that approximately 173,000 former and current patients were impacted by the breach, with the unauthorized party gaining access to sensitive information including:

Names
Addresses
Social Security numbers
driver’s license numbers
bank account information
payment card information
dates of birth
medical information
and health insurance information

Benjamin F. Johns Appointed Co-Lead in CDHA Management Class Action Lawsuit

On May 14, 2025, Shub Johns & Holbrook filed a class action lawsuit against Chord Dental for the potential impact that the data breach could have or has already had on affected individuals.

On May 22, 2025, the Court granted Plaintiffs’ motion to Consolidate all class action matters against Chord Dental. In its consolidation order, the Pennsylvania Court appointed Benjamin F. Johns, a Partner with Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP, as Interim Co-Lead Counsel for Plaintiffs in the consolidated action.
