2025 Subaru Outback SiriusXM Dashboard Pop-Up Advertisement Investigation

Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is investigating reports that owners and lessees of the 2025 Subaru Outback are experiencing recurring SiriusXM promotional pop-up advertisements that appear on the vehicle’s infotainment touchscreen and may interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle.

According to consumer reports, a SiriusXM advertisement automatically appears on the 2025 Subaru Outback’s central touchscreen when the vehicle is started. Consumers allege that the pop-up blocks access to the infotainment system until it is manually dismissed.

Drivers further report that the button used to close the advertisement is positioned on the touchscreen in a location that may require reaching across the dashboard, potentially causing drivers to take their eyes off the road and hands off the wheel. Because the touchscreen controls many of the Outback’s essential vehicle functions – including navigation, audio, climate controls, and vehicle settings – consumers allege that these recurring advertisements create an unnecessary and potentially dangerous distraction.

Our Investigation

Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is investigating whether recurring SiriusXM promotional advertisements displayed on the infotainment systems of certain 2025 Subaru Outback vehicles may violate consumer protection laws or otherwise create an unreasonable safety distraction for drivers.
