Hightower Advisors Data Breach

Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is currently investigating Hightower Holding, LLC along with its subsidiaries Hightower Advisors, Hightower Securities, and Hightower Trust (collectively, “Hightower”), for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around January 19, 2026. Hightower Holding, a financial and securities institution operating across 33 states, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within Hightower’s systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place between Januyary 19 – January 20, 2026.

Reportedly, 131,483 individuals’ personal information has seemingly been impacted in the breach – letters providing affected individuals with notice of the breach were delivered on March 23, 2026. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include personal information, private information, and financial information. 

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
