The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires food producers to put nutrition information on a visible label on their food product. That label must indicate the caloric content of the product to the nearest 5 calorie increment for products up to 50 calories and to the nearest 10 calorie increment for products more than 50 calories.
As per FDA requirements, David protein bars display this nutrition label. These bars come in various flavors, but all the flavors exhibit the same numbers of calories—150 per bar. David protein bar consumers allege that this caloric representation is inaccurate. Rather than containing the displayed 150 calories per bar, consumers allege that David protein bars contain up to 120 more calories than the label indicates.
If a food product distributor misrepresents the calories contained in their product, consumers are unable to make informed decisions about their food intake. Indeed, consumers allege that these misrepresentations were made specifically to induce consumers to purchase David protein bars. Caloric misrepresentations also blatantly violate the regulations laid out by the FDA.
Consumers deserve to know the accurate nutrition information of the products they purchase. The experienced class action lawyers at Shub Johns & Holbrook are qualified to represent consumers who have been misled by the allegedly inaccurate labels on David protein bars.
