Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is currently investigating Dollar Financial Group Inc. d/b/a Money Mart (“Money Mart”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around November 25, 2025. Money Mart, a New York-based “same day” financial service provider servicing North America, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to consumer data within Money Mart’s data systems following a publication by the ransomware attacker, the Everest Group, claiming responsibility for the breach.

The exact dates of the breach are not yet confirmed but the breach took place on or before November 25, 2025. Money Mart has not been able to indicated the approximate number of impacted individuals but the ransomware group claims to have stolen 80,000 internal Money Mart files. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include:

  • Personal Identification / Contact Information / Identity Documents
  • Financial Data
  • Client / System Profiles
  • Administrative Codes & Status Parameters
  • Employment History
  • Timestamps / Interaction History
  • Employee list

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
