Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is currently investigating 700Credit for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around October 25, 2025. 700Credit, a Michigan-based credit reporting and identity verification provider for the auto-industry, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to consumer data within 700Credit’s systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place between May and October 2025.
700Credit has indicated that approximately 5.6 million individuals have been impacted by the breach. Consumer data impacted was accessed from auto financing applications submitted to over 18,000 dealerships in the automotive, RV, and marine industries.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
