Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP is currently investigating Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pitman LLP, or Pillsbury Winthrop Law Firm,  for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was announced in November 2025. Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pitman LLP, a New York based law firm servicing clients in the technology, finance, and energy spaces, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to private and sensitive data on its information systems via a sophisticated social engineering scam. It was determined that the data breach occurred in April 2025.

Despite the data breach occurring in Spring of 2025, the Pillsbury Winthrop law firm only recently began notifying impacted individuals in November of 2025. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include: names, addresses, and potentially other personal and sensitive information like SSN.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
