ONLY 14 BUSINESS INTERRUPTION CLAIMS PAID OUT TO BUSINESSES DESPITE OVER 150,000 CLAIMS FILED

In July 2020, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners issued Notes Regarding Data Received pertaining to Covid-19 business interruption claims. Of the 150,000 claims filed by business owners, only 14 of those claims have been paid.

These alarming numbers highlight the importance of current litigation against insurance companies involving denied business interruption claims filed in response to COVID-19 losses.

Shub Law Firm Continues to Investigate Denied Business Interruption Claims

Shub Law is currently investigating denied business interruption claims of businesses throughout the nation. Businesses across the United States have experienced monetary losses after local governments closed all non-essential companies in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. As such, businesses started attempting to recoup some of those losses by applying for benefits under their business interruption insurance.

However, mostly all insurance companies have been denying business interruption insurance claims filed by businesses. Insurance companies are making every argument possible in order to deny relief to businesses in need.

Shub Law Firm, along with co-counsel, has filed a number of lawsuits on behalf of small businesses against insurance companies that denied business interruption insurance claims. Recently, the Shub Law attorneys were part of the plaintiffs’ counsel team who successfully won a motion to coordinate all Pennsylvania lawsuits filed against Erie Insurance Exchange for improperly denying COVID-19 business interruption coverage.

Jonathan Shub of Shub Law Firm was quoted in a Law360.com article about the order saying, “We are pleased with the court’s decision to coordinate these cases in one court as this determination will result in efficiencies for both litigants and the court…We look forward to aggressively advancing our client’s interests in procuring insurance coverage under their policies.”
