Hotel and Casino Giant, MGM Resorts, experienced Data Breach
Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating MGM Resorts International (MGM) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around September 11, 2023. MGM, a Nevada-based hotel and casino giant, shut down systems across MGM properties as it battles with the effects of a cybersecurity attack that impacted consumer information.
MGM has not indicated the approximate number of individuals impacted by the breach. At this moment, it has not been reported what consumer data was potentially exposed in the data breach, but can include social security numbers, driver’s license numbers and consumer contact information.
The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
