Shub Law Firm is investigating Walmart for selling allegedly defective candles that are prone to exploding. At least one class-action lawsuit has been filed against Walmart by a plaintiff who claims they received second-degree burns after their Mainstays brand candle exploded.
With the colder weather coming, more people will start lighting their favorite scented candles. Mainstays is a home décor brand with an assortment of candles of different scents and sizes. Having sold candles for years, Mainstays sells its products at a lower price compared to brands like Yankee Candle.
DANGEROUS DEFECTS IN MAINSTAYS CANDLES
It is alleged that Mainstays candles create flames several feet high, and sometimes will explode. This is an alleged defect in the candle’s wick, as well as the wax. Complaints about the Mainstays candles have spurred from the class-action lawsuit that was filed in May 2020.
In that case, the plaintiff claimed that their candle lit flames high enough to blacken their ceiling. Due to this, and worry of a house fire, they pushed the candle into a nearby sink, causing the candle to explode. The explosion caused second-degree burns on the plaintiff’s thigh, as well as property damage as glass and “flaming wax” splattered across the room. Similar incidents have been reported with scorched ceilings, several feet high flames, and liquified flaming wax.
WALMART’S INVOLVEMENT
Despite receiving numerous complaints about the Mainstays candles, Walmart has not removed the product, warned of the defect, or offered any form of compensation to purchasers. It has been alleged that Walmart has sold the Mainstays candles for several years. If Walmart has sold this candle brand for years, how many consumers have suffered due to this defect?
It has been alleged that Walmart has sold the Mainstays candles in stores across the nation, including online. If you purchased a Mainstays candle from Walmart, contact us today to get justice!
