Sav-Rx Data Breach potentially Impacts 2.8 million People’s Information

hacker sitting at desk in low light.Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating Sav-Rx for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around October 8, 2023. A&A Services, doing business as Sav-Rx, is a Nebraska-based medication benefit management solutions and health plan provider. The healthcare provider discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within Sav-Rx’s systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place on October 3, 2023.

Though the data security breach was discovered in early October 2023, the Company claims that its investigation only recently concluded in on April 30, 2024 – Sav-Rx claims to have promptly sent affected consumers notifications of the data breach soon after. Sav-Rx has indicated that approximately 2.8 million individuals have been impacted by the breach, including former and current health plan holders, as well as former and current employees. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary by individual but can include names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, eligibility data, and insurance identification numbers.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
