SanDisk Extreme Potentially Sold Defective SSD Products
Shub & Johns LLC opens investigation into Western Digital and their SanDisk Extreme portable Solid-State Drives, or SSDs, after some consumers complain about the potential issues with the products, allegedly claiming drive failure or widespread loss of data.
SanDisk has a popular line of SSD products, a compact storage device that many use to add additional storage and memory to computers. The parent company, Western Digital, markets these SanDisk Extreme SSD products as strong and durable, and with their popularity and price, consumers may believe the Company’s claims. Instead, many consumers are reporting that the Extreme SSDs are potentially experiencing issues with the storage device and claiming that drives are unreliable.
Allegedly affected SanDisk Extreme SSD products include:
- SanDisk Extreme 2TB
- SanDisk Extreme 4TB
- SanDisk Extreme Pro 2TB
- SanDisk Extreme Pro 4TB
In May 2023, after plenty of consumer complaints, Western Digital acknowledged a firmware issue regarding the 2TB models, but had not mentioned or acknowledged similar issues or fixes regarding the 4TB models of the SanDisk Extreme SSDs. Even so, this firmware fix and five-year warranties of SSD products cannot replace consumers’ loss of data and time spent on trying to fix the alleged issue.
