Earlier this week of March 6, 2023 the FBI said in a statement that they would help assist DC Health Link after becoming aware of an incident in which a hack of a health insurance marketplace used by members of Congress occurred. The hack exposed sensitive personal data of law makers, their employees and families. Thousands of people could be affected by this data breach. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the breach “significantly increases the risk that Members, staff and their families will experience identity theft, financial crimes and physical threats.” Stolen data includes social security numbers, phones, addresses, emails and employers names.
