Continuum Health Data Breach impacts 377K Consensus Medical Patients

hacker sitting at desk in low light.Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating Continuum Health Alliance, LLC (“Continuum”) and the Consensus Medical Group (“Consensus”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around on October 19, 2023. Continuum and Consensus, both New Jersey-based healthcare organizations, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within Continuum systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place between October 18 and October 19, 2023.

Though the data security breach was discovered in October 2023, the Company did not issue public notice until April 29, 2024 – consumers should expect notice of the breach in soon. Continuum has indicated that approximately 377,119 individuals have been impacted by the breach. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, health insurance information, medical information, and phone numbers

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
