On February 14, 2023, Shub Law filed a class action lawsuit against Regal Medical Group, Inc. based in Marina Del Ray, California for a recently-announced data breach. The data breach occurred on or around December 1, 2022 and exposed the sensitive patient information. Regal did not announce the data breach publicly until February 1, 2023, when it began notifying consumers that their data had been compromised.
The data breach impacted the sensitive health information of over 3.3 million individuals. The lawsuit allege that consumers whose information was compromised now face a heightened risk of identity theft and fraud. The comprised information includes consumers names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, diagnoses and treatments, laboratory test results, prescription data, radiology reports, health plan member numbers and phone numbers. The class action seeks to cover a class of all United States residents whose private information was compromised in the data breach notice published by Regal Medical Group.
