Parties in the Onix Group Data Breach Litigation propose $1.25M Settlement to Court

Onix Group LLC Data Breach

The Onix Group, LLC (“Onix”), a Pennsylvania-based real estate company that provides management and consulting services to a variety of businesses, experienced a cybersecurity incident that compromised Onix’s network in or around late March 2023. The incident potentially impacted sensitive information including consumers’ names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth, as well as scheduling, billing, and clinical information. The data breach affected approximately 308K individuals, potentially putting them at risk of fraud or suspicious activity. Though Onix experienced the breach between March 20 and March 27, 2023, it did not inform impacted consumers until May 30, 2023.

Shub & Johns filed a class action lawsuit against the Onix Group on June 15, 2023 in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. On July 19, 2023, the court granted Plaintiff’s motion to consolidate class action cases against Onix in relation to the data breach and appointed Shub & Johns attorney Benjamin F. Johns as Interim Lead Class Counsel. On September 15, 2023, Shub & Johns, along with co-counsel, filed a Consolidated Amended Complaint against Onix following consolidation.

Preliminary Approval of the Onix Settlement

On February 20, 2024, Shub & Johns filed a motion for preliminary approval of a $1.25 million settlement with the court, along with a memorandum in support of the settlement agreement reached between both parties. Parties in this case await for the Courts order granting Plaintiff’s motion. Additional information concerning the settlement is still to come.
