Shub & Johns Files Data Breach Class Action against East River Medical Imaging

a bad agent takes data from a computer system.On December 5, 2023, Shub & Johns LLC filed the first class action lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York for New York County against East River Medical Imaging, P.C. (“ERMI”) for a recent data breach that impacted the personal and medical information of approximately 606K patients and employees who entrusted their sensitive personal information to ERMI.

According to the complaint, the New York-based radiology center identified suspicious activity within ERMI’s IT network on September 20, 2023. Through ERMI’s investigation, the company learned that an unauthorized party gained access to East River Medical Imaging’s information network between August 31, 2023 and September 20, 2023, accessing files that contained current and former patients’ and employees’ data. Depending on the individual, patient information impacted may have included name, contact information, insurance information, exam and/or procedure information, referring physician, and/or imaging results, and/or Social Security number. As for employees, impacted information potentially includes names, contact information, financial account information, Social Security number, and/or driver’s license number.
