Honda SUVs Can Lock Up on the Road

A black car sits on a lift at the mechanic shop.
2018-2022 HONDA CR-V and HR-V SUV models are locking up on the road.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opens investigation into the rear differentials of these Honda SUVs as drivers and owners report that their vehicle stopped moving forward, sometimes at highway speeds. Malfunctions with the rear differentials are thought to come about because of a leak in the rear differential seal, causing the part to lock up. This issues also seems to cause the driveshafts to break, leaving many drivers frustrated with their vehicles.
