SHUB LAW FIRM INVESTIGATES ENERGY SUPPLIER TELEMARKETING COMPLAINTS

Shub Law Firm is currently investigating competitive energy suppliers for engaging in switching scams by use of “harassing and intimidating” tactics to persuade consumers to switch their energy suppliers.

ENERGY SUPPLIERS TELEMARKETERS USE HARASSING TACTICS TO GAIN CUSTOMERS

Consumers have complained of aggressive telemarketers using “super high-pressure tactics” to frighten residential customers. The scam entails a salesperson and/or telemarketer, sometimes posing as a representative of utilities or government, telling customers that their current energy supplier is “going out of business” and that their power will be shut off if they do not switch their energy supplier.

These marketing efforts are a form of “slamming,” which consists of switching a consumer’s energy supplier without their knowledge or consent. To avoid the possibility of being slammed, do not share your account number unless you intend to initiate a change in your energy supplier.
