PA FEDERAL JUDGE DENIES BUCKS COUNTY’S REQUEST TO ACT AS ITS OWN CLAIMS ADMINISTRATOR

The Shub Law Firm was highlighted for its works in the Taha v. Bucks County class action lawsuit. A Pennsylvania Federal Judge, Wendy Bettlestone, ruled that Bucks County will not be cutting checks to class members.

Bucks County requested to take responsibility for writing potentially thousands of settlement checks rather than hiring a claims administrator. While the county had cited forgoing a claims administrator could result in cost savings, Judge Beetlestone ultimately decided the county would not be permitted to act as its own claims administrator. Judge Beetlestone supported her decision by stating, “Cutting literally tens of thousands of checks is something that’s not normally in their course of business.”
