Shub & Johns LLC adds Samantha Holbrook as a Named Partner

New Name. Same Firm. Same Values.

West Conshohocken, PA / January 13 , 2025 – Shub & Johns co-founders Jonathan Shub and Benjamin F. Johns are pleased to announce that, effective January 13, 2025, the law firm will be renamed Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP (“SJ&H”) and will remain based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

“The name change is reflective of the natural growth trajectory of the firm ,” said Shub. “We are proud of the achievements of our extraordinary team of attorneys and other professionals, and will continue the firm’s tireless work on behalf of our consumer-clients in important cases across the country.” Johns added, “We are excited to welcome Sam as named partner. I have worked closely with her for many years. She is a fantastic lawyer, colleague and friend. She is quite deserving of this recognition.” Holbrook added, “I couldn’t be more excited to join Jon and Ben as a named partner. We have an outstanding team, and I look forward continuing our success.”

In 2020, Shub served as co-lead counsel in a privacy case the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania involving an alleged violation of that state’s Criminal History Record Information Act. Taha v. Bucks County et al., No. 2:12-cv-06867-WB (E.D. Pa.). This case, which lasted over seven years and included an appeal to the Third Circuit, resulted in a $68 million jury verdict. This is believed to be the first privacy class action that has been successfully tried to a jury verdict.

Johns joined what was then Shub Law in 2022. The two then co-founded Shub & Johns LLC with Holbrook joining shortly thereafter. During this short period, both Johns and Holbrook have established themselves as preeminent attorneys in the data security practice.

Johns has two decades of litigation experience. He has argued in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit, and D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Since joining Shub in 2022, Johns has been appointed lead or co-lead counsel in over a dozen consumer class actions across the country. Several of these cases have settled and resulted in settlements totaling tens of millions of dollars for the firm’s clients.

Since joining the firm, Ms. Holbrook has played a significant role in the firm’s data privacy cases. She has been appointed to leadership roles in several data security actions, including In re HealthEquity, Inc. Data Security Incident Litig., No. 24-cv-528 (D. Utah), Reichbart v. Financial Business and Consumer Solutions, Inc., No. 24-cv-1876 (E.D. Pa.), In re F21 OpCo LLC Data Breach Litig., No. 23-cv-7390 (C.D. Cal.) and Krenk v. Murfreesboro Medical Clinical, P.A., No. 75CC1-2023-cv-81005 (Rutherford Cir. Ct.).  She has over a decade of experience as a class action litigator, having worked at two preeminent national class action law firms prior to joining Shub & Johns. Given her extensive experience in class action litigation, she stands poised to join the ranks of the next-generation diverse class action leaders.

Shub, Johns, and Holbrook are excited and eager to continue their success as the firm embarks on a new chapter as SJ&H.
