Ford Bronco Windshield Wipers Alleged Speed Defect
Shub & Johns LLC launches investigation into 2021-2023 Ford Bronco model vehicles that are experiencing potential issues with the speed of windshield wipers. Consumers have reported a potential defect that causes windshield wiper blades to slow down when set at high speed which can lead to risks on the road.
Drivers, owners and lessees of the Ford Bronco have taken to online forums to voice their concerns with 2021, 2022, and 2023 models of the vehicle after some drivers reported issues with the windshield wiper blades. According to some consumers the wipers on their Ford Bronco windshield are experiencing issues related to the speed or the function of the wiper blades. Specifically, consumers have reported that the wiper blades can go from full-time mode to intermittent mode without any direction from the driver, or as some others indicate the wiper blades start to move more slowly even when the driver sets the wiper speed to high.
Consumers report that some dealerships indicate that this function may be a “normal operation,” so that the wipers’ motor doesn’t overheat. However, this function may make it more dangerous for drivers who may need the wipers to wipe away oncoming rain.
Presumably, drivers who have turned on the windshield wipers are driving in rain. Driving at high speeds during a rainstorm can restrict a driver’s vision. When it is “normal operation” for windshield wipers to change modes or reduce speeds, it may put drivers operating in heavy rain at risk of limiting their field of view and potentially leading to accidents on the road. Alternatively, if windshield wiper speeds or modes change during use, drivers may have to remove their hand from the steering wheel in order to manually wipe their windshield – leading to other distracting efforts while driving.
