Dohman, Akerlund & Eddy Data Breach Investigation

hacker sitting at desk in low light.Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating Dohman, Akerlund & Eddy, LLC (“DA&E”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer or client information in a data breach that was detected on or around October 7, 2024. DA&E, a Nebraska-based accounting and business consulting firm, discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to client data within ENTITY’s systems. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place on or around February 28, 2024.

Though the data security breach was discovered in late February 2024, the Company only completed a review and investigation of the data breach on September 28, and only started delivering notices to impacted individuals in early October 2024.  DA&E has indicated that approximately 82,207 individuals have been impacted by the breach. Information exposed in the breach may vary by consumer but can include name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, medical treatment/diagnosis information, dates of service, health insurance provider name, health insurance claim information, and/or treatment cost

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
