Shub & Johns LLC is currently investigating Chimienti & Associates for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive consumer information in a data breach that was detected on or around March 22, 2024. Chimienti & Associates, a California-based office-administration and management agency, discovered that an unauthorized actor potentially gained access to consumer information after becoming aware of suspicious activity through an internal email account. Through further investigation, it was determined that the breach took place between March 22 and March 26, 2024.

Though the data security breach was discovered in March of 2024, the Company did not notify impacted individuals until confirming the results of their investigation on October 11, 2024– consumers should expect a notice of the breach in the mail sent out on October 23, 2024. Chimienti has not been able to indicate the approximate number of individuals that have been impacted by the breach. Consumer information exposed in the breach may vary but can include name, Social Security number, state-issued identification information (including driver’s license number and non-driver identification number), date of birth, health information, and financial account information.

The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
