UConnect system in Fiat Chrysler Vehicles Allegedly Experiencing Defects
Shub & Johns files class action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, or FCA US LLC (“FCA”) after receiving several reports and claims from consumers indicating issues and troubling experiences with the UConnect infotainment system with many vehicles produced by Fiat Chrysler, such as Jeep Compasses and Grand Wagoneers, RAM 1500s, Chrysler Pacificas and more.
Alleged UConnect Malfunctions
The infotainment system equipped with recent models of some Fiat Chrysler vehicles are reportedly experiencing issues that disrupt the driving experience for drivers and can potentially lead to risks on the road. Drivers have reported that the UConnect system and the screen glitch or black out completely, rendering many features of the UConnect system nonfunctional. Namely, if the screen gets stuck it can prevent drivers or users from accessing temperature control or navigation features typically accessed using the UConnect screen. In other instances, the screen can stick on the home screen or the start-up screen and prevent the driver from accessing certain safety features such as the backup camera.
These issues can lead to distracted drivers on the road, attempting to fix their UConnect system, or leading owners of the vehicle to waste time by pulling to the side of the road in order to restart their vehicle or find a solution otherwise. The alleged defects with the UConnect system may also require many drivers to reach out to their dealership for resolution, only to be given a software update that may not truly fix the issue or potentially make it worse.
