Data Breach at Forever 21
Around August 4, 2023, F21 OpCo LLC, a California-based retailer better known as Forever 21 with approximately 500 stores across the US, began notifying individuals that their information was involved in a data breach that allegedly exposed consumer and employee personal information such as names, social security numbers, dates of birth, bank account numbers, and information regarding Forever 21 employees’ health benefit plans.
The company learned of the security breach on March 20, 2023 and immediately conducted an investigation. Forever 21 determined that between January 5 and March 21, 2023, an unauthorized party gained access to confidential consumer information through the company’s servers, accessing a limited number of data systems. Through further investigation, Forever 21 discovered that approximately 539,207 individuals’ information was impacted.
