Data Breach at Rite Aid
On or around July 15, 2024, Rite Aid, a Pennsylvania-based drug store and pharmacy chain, began notifying individuals that their information was involved in a data breach that allegedly exposed consumers’ personal information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, and driver’s license numbers or other forms of government-issued IDs presented at the time of purchase.
The company learned of the security breach on June 20, 2024 and immediately conducted an investigation. Rite Aid determined that on June 20, 2024, an unauthorized party gained access to confidential consumer information through the company’s servers. Through further investigation, Rite Aid discovered that approximately 2.2 million individuals’ information was impacted and that only consumers who made purchases between June 6, 2017 and July 31, 2018 were impacted.
